A career built around getting people moving.

Mr Edmondson trained at Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ in London before completing advanced fellowships in hip and knee surgery in Perth, Western Australia, and complex trauma at Brighton’s Major Trauma Centre.

Today he practises at Nuffield Health Haywards Heath and the Spire Montefiore Hospital in Hove, and leads the NHS hip-fracture service at University Hospitals Sussex, where he also trains the next generation of surgeons.

His approach is simple: listen first, explain every option honestly — surgical and non-surgical — and build a plan around your life, not just your scan.

How I Work

Listen first

Your story, your goals and your sport come before any scan. Consultations are never rushed.

Honest options

Surgical and non-surgical paths explained side by side — around a third of patients are advised not to operate yet.

Personal follow-up

Reviewed by Mr Edmondson himself — not a registrar — from first consultation to final physio sign-off.

The surgeon other surgeons learn from.

NHS Leadership & Training

Mark About Image 1

Alongside private practice, Mr Edmondson leads the NHS hip-fracture service at University Hospitals Sussex — some of the most demanding surgery in orthopaedics, delivered at a major trauma centre.

He trains and examines the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons, which means his private patients benefit from technique that is current, evidence-led and constantly scrutinised.

A surgeon who understands active lives — because he lives one.

Beyond the theatre

A Welsh speaker, a lifelong martial artist and a father of three, Mr Edmondson knows exactly what a hip or knee has to survive — on the mat, on the fairway and on the school run. It is why conversations about returning to sport are grounded in real experience, not generic advice.
